Quilting service

Your quilt top is ready. What now? Quilting yourself can give you a lot of satisfaction. But if you don't have the time or you don't enjoy doing it, we can help you with machine quilting or basting. Choose from over 100 pantograph patterns! With us the prices per m2 include Madeira yarn, tensioning and trimming!

Dimensions

With our Handi Quilter Amara machine we can quilt tops with a short side up to 330 cm. It is important that you supply the top at right angles.

Patterns

You have a wide choice of more than 100 patterns above, including flowers, animals, feathers, stars and children's patterns.

By default, the lanes of an overall pattern run toward the shortest side of the top unless it is longer than 330cm. If you want to work in the direction of the long side, please indicate this in the order form. If we charge an additional fee for this, we will inform you in advance.

Thread

We use Madeira threads: a shiny polyneon thread for the top and an aerofil thread for the back. You can choose from different colors. With us it is possible to use a different color thread for the top than for the back. If you choose a different thread, we charge a thread price of € 5.50 per m2.

Batting

When you order a batting from us, you can choose from various types:

• 80% cotton and 20% polyester
• 80% cotton and 20% wool
• 50% cotton and 50% bamboo
• 100% cotton
• 100% bamboo
• 100% wool
• 100% polyester

More information about this can be found in our webshop. If you already have a batting in between, supply it at the same time as the top. It is important that your batting is 20 cm longer and wider than your top.

Back fabric

You can also contact us for the backing fabric. In our webshop you will find our choice of backing fabrics. If you already have a backing fabric, please supply it at the same time as the top. It is important that your backing fabric is 20 cm longer and wider than your top.

Total price

The total price for the quilting depends on the measurements of the top, the pattern you choose and whether you also order the batting and the backing fabric from us. In addition, the yarns and the method of delivery also have an influence.

Prices of the pantograph cartridges, depending on how 'open' the cartridge is, are between € 42.50 and € 50.00 per m2.

Quotation

If you would like a quote for quilting your top, please contact us. Specify the size of the top and, if desired, also the batting and backing fabric. You will then receive a message from us as soon as possible.

Order form

Your top is in good hands with us. Nevertheless, it is better to clearly state what you expect from us and what price you pay for this. That is why we do not continue quilting without a corresponding, completed and signed order form. You can download an empty order form below. If you deliver the top to the store, we will complete this form together with you. By signing on the spot you confirm the order. If you deliver the top by parcel post, you must enclose a completed and signed order form. If you have received a quote from us, please include it as well. After receipt, we will inform you as soon as possible by e-mail whether your wishes are possible.

Delivery

The delivery consists of a fully completed and signed order form, the top and, depending on the order, also the batting and/or the backing fabric. These parts must be sent separately as one package to:

Do not forget to mention yourself as the sender on the package.
It is also possible to personally bring the package to the store in Brunssum. This has the additional advantage that your wishes and our options can be better coordinated. We can immediately discuss the price with you. For a good result it is very important that:

• the top, batting and backing fabric are square;
• the top is ironed with the seams always to one side;
• the backing fabric is ironed;
• the top has no folds and false folds after ironing;
• loose wires have been removed;
• there are no loose seams.

If you supply the batting and/or the backing fabric yourself, the sides must be at least 20 cm longer than those of the top. When hooping and quilting, a strip of 0.5cm wide is used around the edge of the top to secure the top. If you do not want to sacrifice this part of the top, you should make the top larger all around with an extra strip of (waste) fabric of at least 3 cm wide.

What activities does quilting consist of?

You spent a lot of time, money and energy making the top. Before you commission us and spend money on it, you would probably like to know what we do for it. Below is a brief description.

• checking the top, back and batting
• tensioning the top, back and batting
• determine the distribution and the starting point of the pattern
• quilting according to the pattern
• ensure proper thread tension
• trimming your quilt

We know that you are curious about the end result of your work and would like it back within a reasonable period of time. We use 3 weeks per quilt for this. We will notify you as soon as your quilt is ready. Are you nearby? Come and pick it up in our store in Brunssum. You can then view the result with us before you pay. If you live too far away or if you are unable to come to the store, we will send your quilt by parcel post. We will send back any leftover fabric.
